What do you mean by imbalance in chess?

I think it’s like one team has an advantage and a disadvantage for something, I’m not sure, but I found a lesson where Kostya Kavutskiy has a lesson about it

Imbalance means that one side has strengths and weaknesses significantly different from what the other side has. And vice-versa of course. A few examples are:

  • White only has knights, black only has bishops
  • White has strong control of one side of the board, black has strong control of the other
  • White is more developed but black has a better pawn structure
  • White has strong attacking chances but is down material
