What is the mittens bots real elo?

It's not a smart move to create these cat bots, aimed at children, then publish a story asking "can you beat them all?", then make the top bot play like a full engine.  Because the result is what you see on this thread.  Kids wanting to beat the last bot learning to pull out an engine on their end to get the job done.

I mean, it's like training players to start thinking of cheating as an alternative to be considered.  Whoever came up with this can't see 10 feet in front of their face.

IAmVeryPurpl

More than 1400 at least because its the last bot in the category.

Look, here's one of them now.

I saw a video of it losing to Stockfish 14. So, Mittens is probably like a Stockfishs 13. But, the more players that play it, the stronger the bot gets -- which is absolutely terrifying. Anyway, look at this game I played with Mittens. I'm only 682 rating so, I barely got anywhere.

I think this mittens has a real elo similar to the maximum engine

Stockfish 9 already beats Mittens

ZARITRA

I have put it against stockfish 14+NNUE server version and stockfish wins. So, i would say it's rating is approximately 3400-3600.But still this bot is no joke. Here is the PGN(stockfish is white in this game).

I suspect mittens might be like an older version of stockfish, or it might be leela or something

imanueltantodaud

its accuracy is quite high as a bot (98%), playing almost all the best moves

Edited: Accuracy is not an absolute measure of playing strength (Thanks to bigbadsquid for the info)

play 1min and ez clap

I said it many time and will say it again: accuracy doesn't mean much here and there are no 'best' moves (in most positions).

Accuracy = coincidence with a particular engine version and depth used for analysis, not some absolute measure of playing strength. If the analysis engine is worse than the player of the game being analyzed, then it's like when a weaker player analyzes a game by a stronger player and judges the quality of the stronger player by how much he agrees with their moves.

'Accuracy' also tends to be very high if the difference in strength is high. I had games with 100% accuracy when my opponent blundered right out of the book. So please, please stop talking about accuracy as if it was some absolute measure of playing strength.

I doubt it's leela. I let it play against leela several times and leela crushed it in a very positional style (I posted two of the games here). What's more interesting, on several occasions leela chose moves that weren't even considered as top choices by mittens. Of course, this is no proof.

MonkeyCMonkey

tbh it might be a bot some random creator created.
