Not if you throw them.
What is the most boring thing in chess?
1.d4 and and anything other than blitz
That means you have a problem with serious thoughtful chess...
What's wrong with "d4"? Why do people hate on it so much. If they play that, just respond with the Benko Gambit like I will try to if you're really bored with "d4" play. If you are the one playing "d4", try the Queen's Gambit.
If all you play is "blitz", then where is your SERIOUS chess playing. That's what TRUE CHESS is. Those games where players sit for hours, constantly thinking out strategies and tactics, and trying to make their position better or maintain the tension. Thinking about trading, etc. That's what true chess is.
'm addicted to 10 minute blitz and 1.d4 just doesn't seem to jive with blitz.i play 1...f5 to 1.d4 cause it ain't boring, win or lose
i've been told my face was scary so boring is a step up, thanks! i'm not the only who finds 1.d4...d5 "stale" but maybe thats because i'm a lower level player so i figure if i'm gonna lose it's gonna be in a type of game i like.

endgames rule i dont know what y'all are talking about, trading pieces off to get to an endgame where i milk the smallest advantage is a pleasure :) ...playing yet another ruy lopez is BORING...i dont play 1.e4 often because i hate the ruy
^Bravo!
I know ruy lopez is such a lame, garbage variation. It's so boring and standard. I'm an aggressive player who loves gambitting. And yes, to all of you who believe the endgame is boring and lame, looks like you haven't studied the HEART of chess yet! That's the heart of chess because that's where small advantages are converted. You finally make small nuances appear to be the most important thing, and lots of things matter in the endgame. Nice fun struggle to combat!
I want to face a tough bishops of opposite color endgame sometime soon, although I've almost NEVER encountered it for some reason. They are pretty rare...
There are a large number of lines in the Ruy Lopez that to generalize so much about it (as if it is one line) shows your amount of knowledge regarding the "variation." A couple of example lines:
I do agree that the endgame is a huge portion of chess. Even if the game is even until that point, the player with better endgame play can turn a theoretically drawn game into a win.
Taking the bottles out to the garbage bin.
