I don’t think there really is a point. I think it’s just a way of cheating during online chess because in face-to-face chess, there is no premove option available.
What is the point of premove if you can't move that fast in proper chess?

also, in otb chess, sometimes you have to be super fast physically. Premoves even the playing ground. Or, if it doesn't, it is no different from actual otb.

i know but it is also a form of cheating
moving fast is a form of cheating then.

if someone uses premoves and the other doesnt in a 10 sec game the first person wins
why would you play 10sec without premoves? you would also not play 10sec in over the board. Therefore, 10sec is an exclusive to online chess, which has premoves, which makes 10sec a viable time control.
You have no business playing hyperbullet if you don't have premoves.

but nothing, really.
if you're playing otb blitz chess, then you're moving as fast as you can. Some people (like if you're a child) cannot physically move as fast. Therefore they are at a disadvantage. You don't see anyone complaining about how that's unfair.

most otb tournaments are at a relatively slow speed anyways (excluding blitz tournaments)
right. But if you're playing rapid online, you don't really need premoves.

Not like that stops me from premoving the first five moves in 10min rapid but...

crick2 I agree with you. I think premove is distinctly unfair.
How is it unfair? if anything, it is more fair.

i wonder why you lose00:01 seconds when you premove

Yes my opponents often use premove when I don't. I would say you don't need premove in games over 30 seconds.
What is the point of premove if you can't move that fast in proper chess? This is a question I have always wondered.
