What if a phone call just rang, is it thiers fault ?

I play 3 minute or so games, and it shouldn't take a great deal to think about your first move.

They should play the first move before answering the phone, so that their opponent doesn't abort the game.

And lose time on their clock to answer the phone after that? That doesn't even make any sense.

They could tell the person on the phone that they were playing.

Okay, you start a game of chess. The other player moves at a normal pace. Eventually you gain a small advantage. You turn that small advantage into a bigger advantage, and again another bigger advantage.

Eventually you come down to a crushing advantage where your opponent has no defense left and they know it.

Then they start to move extremely slow, and sometimse d/c.

Then you are sitting there for 10 or so minutes when you have like a mate in 10 or less moves coming up... but your opponent is taking forever to move they don't resign they just waste your time watching them lose on time.

That's why you should play 10 or 15 minute games.

Play unrated games, too - then they won't matter. Hell, when you think about it, even the rated games don't really matter.

That does not take 0 seconds.

Its a phone call, not a royal summons.

If a player doesn't have the courage or decency to resign when he is lost, he is just a big loser and not a serious chess player. I just had someone disconnect on me in a lost endgame. He couldn't bring himself to punch the resign button? What a dork!

Not quite true.

I've seen a few in live chess saying their resign button doesn't work. Its one thing to be able to type to your opponent saying 'hey i'm trying to resign but my resign button isn't working' .. but what if the opponent doesn't believe it or doesn't speak the same language.

What's wrong with just letting it ring if you're busy?  6 billion people have the ability to make my telephone ring.  I don't want to talk to most of them, and the rest can leave a message I'll get a few minutes later.

I do that sometimes. Sorry, i suck i know. But i really hate to lose. I have no problem losing to nice people who talk and stuff (write), bit I hate those who don't even say "gl hf" or something (i do say that). I also hate when i get checked like 20 times in a row. The sound it makes really gets me mad

this is hilarious.  is this for real?
