What is your favorite time control and why?

The first ten or so years I played I neither owned nor used a clock. Playing without a clock is still my favourite way to play.

Rapid online 30 minutes max and classical otb

10/5 and occasionally 15/10

Long enough to think about moves (not too much, though) and also short enough that you don't have to worry about stallers.

Blitz 3|2 or 3 mins, Best time

3/0 blitz or 1/0 bullet. Allow me to play quick games from my bedroom against strong players including GM's IM's etc.

Rapid 20 mins. As an old guy with memory issues I find 10 mins. too fast for me, 30 mins. I will loose interest in the game.

the 24 hour games are now what i play mostly -- they give me a chance to get to 30 moves and over per game when iam successful-- haven't won any yet but i will keep trying -- my whole goal is to move that 30 moves avg game to 40 moves per avg game before i expire
