Few minuter ago I was playing blitz chess and tis position arrives in the game:

My opponent realised that he lost and wait untill his time ends. While it was done computer decided this position is a draw because I haven't got enough matherial to give checkmate!!! I was shocked and I am still. What is going on? Can somebody fix that? I not gain 10 ranking points becouse of that. It is simply unfair.

that is the game.

Ok, problem is slightly different. My opponent made a move, but on my screen it was him to move and his time was running out. What that is?

You are black? I suspect it was you who ran out of time.

Moztax

I checked it with Houdini. It is forced mate in 15 moves actually. This is not a draw!

Here's a few previous threads:

And the second question?  You  have either lag or are losing your connection.  Here's a couple articles:

It is if black ran out ot time. You don't need an engine to realize black wins if it has enough time.

Yes, it was white that had insuficent material...

It's actually a draw.

Robert_New_Alekhine

You probably had a bad connection.

You were lucky that the computer regarded this scenario as being insufficient material for White as White does have the potential to mate Black here if some preposterous (but legal) moves are made...

68. ... Bb6 69. Bd3 Kh1 70. Bc4 Bg1 71. Be4# White wins

I assume that Chess.com's engine is programmed to not look for that/not programmed to look for that.

It sounds like you had computer lag/disconnect to not see your opponent had moved, which caused you to time out.

It has happened to me before.

Ben_Dubuque

you probably lost on time, but as your opponent doesn't have enough material to mate you (Have to check) its a draw by insufficiant material.

however as someone pointed out Black can be checkmated so actually you should have lost that game.

livvyhc

This has happend to me probably around 10 times. Unfortunatly, all times when I had really won. I really dont think it was lag, because i had quite a bit of time in several of the cases, and right after my opponents clock ran out it popped up that it was draw by insufficiant material, even if it was not insufficent material! All of these were bullet games.

did you read the rest of the thread piotr ?

Strange that it was declared a draw due to insufficient material.White can deliver mate(e.g Black K on h1,white K on f1,white B check.)Therefore, it seems to me that black should have lost on time.No draw.

Under FIDE rules yes, but this website used USCF rules in this situation.
