Stockholm syndrome with a board and pieces, they attack, but I always return.
what made u like chess
long story basically it was like 2 years ago i was on holiday with friends and i seen these two people playing chess and it bought so many memories when i was 12 and during my lunch time instead of playing outside i would stay in the school libary playing chess but stopped when i was 14 cuz one teacher said 'ur soo bad just quit' and ever since i never but then i just rejoined and its actually fun
Its challenging. It makes you think. Its one on one. You have no excuses.
As Lasker said:
"On the chessboard, lies and hypocrisy do not survive long".
Chess reveals character.
Yep play for fun, maybe keep game chat to friends only, some people on here are? interesting to say the least
honestly playing with people who take chess seriously is not as fun as people who enjoy chess
For me online chess is just to pass the time, except when I'm playing Daily chess. Daily is part of my training and study for OTB tournament play.
There are lots of rude people on here
The internet brings out the passive/aggressive people. When you know you can sit in front of a monitor and have no actual interaction it does things to some people.
Ignore those types and just enjoy.
If you want to see the difference between online vs. OTB tournaments. Play in an OTB event and youll see the difference.
Give it time, every chat has its share of characters, you’ll meet them soon enough, hopefully not to soon
