What rating do you start with if you join a club?

I still haven't got round to doing this, but I was just interested to know what rating you start with at a club?

In the US (USCF) I believe you're given a provisional rating for the first 26 games, and during this period it can have wider fluctuations. After that you gain/lose rating points in the normal way. There's a little bit more information here: http://www.uschess.org/content/view/7328/28/. I honestly don't recall the exact rating I was given but I want to say it was around 1200.

Ok thanks. I was just curious if it's going to be like chess.com, win or lose with a low RD variable or whatever and it plummets or skyrockets until it settles down after about 40 or so games.

You start unrated/ungraded. Your initial rating/grading is based on the results of your first games.
