What rating would you expect to be after 1 year?
After about a year I'm about 1450 on live standard after a couple hundred games. My online rating is about 1560 but I don't count that as much as online ratings are a little more inflated.

I guess it depends upon ur skill level. Some people have chessesque mind and they rise quickly some take time.
I have been seriously active in chess for last 3months. I don't plan to play any tournament and I expect after one year my rating should be some where near 1800 ( live standard), they are abt 1500 now.
Deppends upon how tight my work schedule will be.
hmm does 1700 seem ok? :D after 2- 3 years 2000 + ( FIDE )
and Online Chess : 1 year 1800 - 1900 or more ( maybe ) and 2 - 3 years 2000 +

I know someone who started off here as newbie, getting a live blitz rating of ~600. A year later (and with some effort) it was 1300.
Play a lot. Learn to see when your pieces are threatened. Do tactics exercises! (the tactics trainer here is decent). Chesstempo.com is also good (and free) tactics training.

I'm currently 1991 I want to be atleast 2100.
You're saying that you got to 1991 in one year only?
I don't really believe it...
I'm just new to the world of chess, not even one month, and by the way, i'm just loving it.
Theres not only one day that i not play chess, read about it, make some tactics, whatching movies etc...
After firsts days my rank dropped till 600 on standar live, then i started to learn the basics and now after one month i'm at level 1100.
I don't know if i'm willing to train every single day to improve my chess to a level above 1600/1700 for now seems really really hard to get there but i will continuing my learning and try to be more methodic.
For now i would say that in one year i can acheive 1500 maybe more a little, but from there up, is another talking.
Bunch of liars on here. Or they all of genius intelligence. Mine is 181 and I'm only around 1500 but can be 1800 on good brain days. That's 2 years of playing. I guess my rating would be higher if I wasn't an emotional player and resign often after a single mistake or missing a better move.
