What would happen if a Player in the WCC was injured and couldn't play the next day?

If one player got injured and could not appear at the next game, his opponent would start the clock and win on time.

Magnus was playing soccer and bonked his head and apparently was cut and had a black eye. He was fine, but it does bring up an interesting thought.
What is a player were injured to a serious degree? What if Magnus got hit by a car, or fell down the stairs, or Fabi got in a bar fight and beat up three dudes but got hit in the head by a bottle? What if one of the players had to be in the hospital for a few days? Would he forfeit the games in the championship in those days, which would rob the world of a proper result in the most important chess event in the world? Or would they take into consideration special circumstances and delay the games until the player was well enough to continue, so that we would get a real world chess championship?
