I apologise in advance for asking silly questions, but I am a patzer with little experience, not long a member of this site.

If one, (i.e., me,) is playing an ordinary game, and I open the analysis board, there is a list displayed of 1. Explore, 2.Get PGN, 3. flip board, 4.FEN, 5. Legal moves.

My query is,why "get PGN", what is it used for in these circumstances? and the same question for FEN ?

"FEN" is a form of text based notation which just indicates the position of all the pieces on the board.

"PGN" is another kind of text notation which contains all the moves of the game.

You can copy the FEN or download the PGN to save a record of the position or game, open it later in chess software, etc.
