I think he was “mentally disabled”. That was the question.

His IQ is unknown and not relevant. My IQ also is unknown. It is not low. The clearest measure may have been my GRE test decades ago. 2100 of 2400 possible. Likely below 160.

Nobody of high intelligence actually gets IQ testing anymore, short of applying for Mensa. In schools only kids who might be special Ed get tested.

When IQ testing was done wide spread, the results were not exactly what people wanted to see.

i agree. the IQ test tells very little about many aspects from real intelligence.

That is not what I said.  IQ is highly correlated to academic achievement, at least those areas that apply to such matters.

Not at all. i admire his capacity of rebelness but that´s exactly intteligence.

No. IQ only reprersents what his creator thought it was intelligence. Few aspects from the left side of the brain. And that´s apart from academics.

It´s funny how people brains work.

there are a lot of sites where you see "The IQ from Mozart, the IQ of Nietszche or Newton..." all people who never could make this test because this test was not invented yet.

But you buy the thing without problems.

I'm pretty sure op meant this to be a joke, just a place for chess players to dunk on themselves, and now there are people debating the intelligence of famous chess players and acting like IQ actually measures your intelligence and isn't just a number that says "hey here's our best guess as to how smart you might be," especially since the term intelligence can mean different things to different people. Is it your ability to reason through complex problems? If so, I'd say low-intelligence, high-ranking chess players don't exist. Is it how much knowledge you have about the world? It's quite a nebulous thing, and now people are trying to put numbers to it in a thread that was pretty clearly started as a joke.

I think you deserve a moderator action.

Where is the evidence that Bobby Fischer had a low IQ?

You're 12 years old.

It shows. Now go away little girl, and stop talking with adults as if you know something. You don't.

You are not acting much like an adult.

Yeah they're just spamming bc someone said that daddy Fisher might have been less intelligent by certain defintions and standards.

Okay never mind I prefer this option rather than closing the thread.

I have listen his more than 100 radio interviews that are online.

And without any doubt this is a guy who knows very little from the world where he lives and his capacity was only to play chess.

From the Times link.

Mr. Fischer was a demanding personality (charismatic to some, merely infuriating to others) who seemed to feel that his prowess in chess entitled him to exorbitant privilege. He demanded loyalty from his supporters, concessions from his opponents, special treatment from tournament organizers and unalloyed respect from the world at large.

Chessuse 999 is just like him.

In a way, yes. But as the same time he is a figure who made more than anybody in chess history.

You're practically trying to get your account removed for spamming.
