Hey everyone, I was wondering what you all think is the most underrated opening in chess. A lot of players stick to the classics like Sicilian, French, or Ruy Lopez, but sometimes the less popular lines can catch opponents off guard and lead to really interesting games. For example, I’ve been experimenting with the Scandinavian Defense and it feels way more solid than I expected. So, what’s your pick for the most underrated opening, and why do you think it deserves more attention? Looking forward to your thoughts!

Wayward Queen attack. e4 e5 Qh5. People think the tricks are over after scholars mate. Solid system for white.

The Reti Gambit. A while back, some of my 1600–1700 rated opponents would play into 1.Nf3 d5 dxc4 b5 c6 and end up with a losing position trying to defend the pawn. Of course, as with any decent opening, black will survive to the middlegame if they play solid moves. The Reti Gambit often transposes into c4/d4 positions, such as the QGA, the Catalan, the English, and 2...d4 leads to a reverse Benoni after . Along with it being solid, It also has the added benefit of throwing your opponent off since it's not nearly as common as or .

And how do you identify "everyone who plays chess using an engine for cheating"?

Do you just report everyone who beats you?
