I am 1450 in the rw. As long as you’re not “playing” around you should be able to hang with a 12-1400. When I was young and competitive I bounced around 1600 for a few years. The ratings here, currently, are a joke, to say the least. Don’t give me that “pool” BS either.

I was never competitive. I don't care what my elo is, I'm comfortable at my level. Also I play for fun and adventure. I simply have zero ambition and I don't set myself goals. What that means: No pressure and no expectations.
Also having to deal with long covid which causes brain fog and fatigue, it makes calculating and concentrating extremely demanding. So it's not that easy as you make it to be. Your comment comes off as hostile, rude and mean. I don't care what you're shouting at me, I enjoy playing chess simple as that. You don't enjoy it. I don't know you that's why I know that! XD

The rapid stats say I'm better than 46.5% so I'm almost in the middle. Yeah very easy to get to 1200 when half of the users are 500-600...

The game gets difficult after I've made a mistake.
I think chess gets hard when you stop focusing on your own moves and start thinking seriously about your opponent's plans as well. Learning the rules is fairly straightforward. The challenge comes from having to calculate, evaluate positions, and make good decisions while your opponent is trying to do the same thing.

'Pool' I think is related to the playing field, it's one of those words that is slightly annoying to explain in this context. I do agree that their reply was not needed, btw.

I thought of this question, more and more recently. When I was a young player the opening was difficult, then middlegame. Most of us can play the open and not think too much, but that happens also. The question is, when does the game get difficult, for you?
Don’t come at me with “depends on the position” because that is basically the same question. lol
