When is Chess No Longer Chess

This is just silly.  Of course it's chess, it's just got a different dynamic than other time controls.

Is drag-racing not a "car race" because there are no turns?  Do there need to be right turns before it's truly a "car race"?

The fact is all are simply different varieties of the same type.

Is 1 second chess chess?  Yes.  Is it comparable to other time controls?  No.  Does that mean it takes no skill or that I shouldn't enjoy it?  No.

1 second chess??? I think you hit on the extreme.  That game would definitely require NO skill and provide NO enjoyment.  Thank you for giving the example that proves the point that lower limits are a different game, and I think an inferior one.
