People have been making updates for a very long time, with different variations, and standard chess still remains the most popular version. My guess is it's going to remain the same for a very long time.

Given your extremely high rating perhaps you can develop this ancient game and take it to new heights. We’re all waiting.
If you are referring to an update to the chess.com app, I got an update a week or so ago.
I cant believe we still did not get a chess update
