When you suspect a cheater

People who cheat do not realize that the only place success comes before work, is in the dictionary!!!

JG27Pyth,

Do you know how EXTREMELY DIFFICULT it is to make perfect moves for 10 moves in a row? A 1600 and 1800 would not have the talent to do so. If you do a computer analysis of most games, you'll find that these types of players start making mistakes and sub-optimal moves by Turn 3, which is really early considering the first 1-2 moves are standard book moves that define most openings!

Baseballfan,

I think these kinds of issues are exactly the kind of issues that should be openly debated. Let us players vent a little since we all know the problem of cheating will never completely go away =/

DoDahDooDoo,

Pretty nice post :)

immortalgamer,

Contrary to what most people will admit, all of us mortal gamers feel your pain and the frustration that comes along with discovering midway though a game that there's a 90% chance you're playing Fritz! So I support you in saying a BIG "******* " to all you cheaters out there.

I can understand your frustration but unfortunately as always happens in these types of postings it goes from an anonymous sound off to analysis of a game by a particular individual, in public.  That's why it should be reported under abuse or not talked about in specific terms.  I've played 5 or 6 people who were later banned for cheating and this game doesn't smell like that to me personally.  I've also had strong doubts abt others, some suddenly close their account, possibly when asked for bona fides, others just stop playing. Some are still around...point is we can't prove it and in some cases we are possibly being unjust, a strong player doesn't need an engine to beat me, so unless it's each and every move in the game I'm never jumping to the engine conclusion.  But there have been people who played each and every move in our games according to computer forst choice in positions where there were many good moves to be had.  Imo this game wasn't like that. I think you've gotten over the emotiuonal bit now, best of luck with your future games Smile

To comment on your post above:

Bg2 is a complicated move and one not easy to counter.  I could have seen the more likely Qf5 as an answer...but Bf1 is just a computer move bro in my opinion.  Even after all the "hope move" playing as you put it I'm still just a pawn down and the game is unclear.   However, why 18. Rfb1?  Why not Rc1, d1, or e1?  Why would he pick the same move Rybka picked?  I don't know I don't think at an 18 depth level, but there must be a reason.

I have no idea why he played Rfb1, I would have played Rfe1 myself but 20Bf1 is pretty much the only answer for white to keep an advantage.  If 20Qf5 as you give then 20..Qxf5 21exf5 Bh3 and white must play f6 when black has Rg6 getting the pawn back ultimately.  I don't know which 5 moves you're referring to but many of the moves in the middle game were just a logical combination triggered off by Nd4?! on your part. Others could be described as virtually the only move...
