I misspoke earlier. I stated in 1998, Anand was third behind Kasparov and Karpov. He was third behind Kasparov and Kramnik. Karpov was only 6th in the world in 1998.

ok, this is touching, you like Carlsen, but this is not the thread , carlsen debate is here. The Norweigan is still a teenager in chess, he won the candidates by a stroke of luck, undeservedly , loosing with white pieces in the last round vs Svidler .
About Kasparov , he is a legend too, but he is a politician and in the head-to-head vs karpov is objectively equalized. His chess books are a joke, he is a good politician like Putin and he was a legend in chess, but in terms of chess, Karpov or Anand are a level above.

What I would like to test is, instead of banning or muting trolls, is to have automated code that makes random posts of theirs invisible to everyone but the troll.
The idea is sometimes they will get a response, so they will not delete their account or make a new one. They will also not know why they receive less responses. But for the responses they do receive they will have to work harder.
It may not reduce the trash we see, but it requires more effort from the troll.

What about Euwe?
Chess has always been about the young lion taking the crown from the aging vet and dominating his peers until he becomes the aging vet.
Anand never did this. He was just a guy who hung around until everyone got old and retired then was gifted a championship. He only had to defend against similarly old players.
