They both had such strong personalities that it would end in a fist fight. People talk about how Fischer acted up playing Spaasky and I have read accounts of grandmasters becoming physically ill sitting across from Fischer but I doubt Kasparov could be outdone when it comes to intimidation. Kasparov is probably the only chess player on the planet that could cause Mr. Nice Guy, Yasser Seirawan to curse and threaten physical harm to his opponent, that's saying something.

Precisely this. Spassky had to convince Fischer to keep playing the WC, and then he just ducked Karpov with ridiculous demands. Kasparov on the other hand persisted so much in his first title match Karpov became ill.

While I think Kasparov is better than Fischer that really is moot because Kasparov would just break him. I don't ever see Garry bending over for Fischers demands.

bobby, he was a genius of the game with NO computers but Garry had SOME not a lot though but it still helps and bobby had to make those openings whilst garry played them

These questions never work because without clarification the later champion could always outplay the earlier champion if only because they've studied their matches whereas the reverse cannot be true.

The real question is if you were some kind of omnipotent being with an obsession about Chess champions what experiment would you like to perform? More importantly, what should you use that ultimate power for instead? Which leads to the ethical question, even with the limited power we have, how should we be spending our time?
