Position looks equal at first glance but why not try for an advantage?

In the first we can deduce that black wants to play the freeing pawn moves ...c5 or ...e5 while white wants to prevent these then complete development by connecting the rooks by moving the queen.  1.Nb3 seems to restrain further the c5 thrust while Be3 discovers an extra restraint over an ...e5 advance.  However, 1.Nb3,Bxf3 2.Bxf3,Bxh2+ loses a pawn while 1.Bd3,Bxh2+ knight can't take due to the pin against the queen and opens the king so we need to tackle preventing black's freeing pawn moves from another angle.

1.Bxf6,Nxf6 2.Ne5,Bxe2 3.Qxe2,c5 nope, this doesn't work, but least there's no more strong knight on d5 though it seems temporary, but ...c5 threatens to give white an isolated pawn making c4 impossible.

Why not 1.Ne5 at once?  1.Ne5,Bxe2 2.Qxe2,h6 3.Bh4,g5 4.Bg3 I like this, black has permanent weaknesses and my bishop challenges indirectly the queen and bishop battery.  1...Bxe5 2.dxe5,Bxe2 3.Qxe2,Nd7 4.c4,Nb6 5.Be7,Rfe8 6.Bd6 and black's coordination is terrible while the Bd6 is quite a good asset controlling many squares in black's camp cramping and discombobulating him.  Black therefore wouldn't play 1...Bxe5? Wait, 1.Ne5,Bxe2 2.Qxe2,h6 3.Bh4,c5! there it is again. 4.dxc5 with a queenside pawn majority but black has nice counterplay, 4...Nf4 and 4...Bxe5 5.Qxe5,Qxe5 6.Rxe5,Nd7 seem good for black.

Maybe allowing a freeing pawn move but generating play of our own is the correct idea here?

1.Qb3,c5 2.c4,Nf4 3.Bf1,Nxd4 4.Ng6,g3 regrouping for queenside play seems like a good plan for white since I can't in all honesty find a good way of stopping ...c5 without allowing black tactics involving winning the h2 pawn.

Messed up the notation I meant 3...cxd4 4.Nxd4,Ng6 5.g3 I like 1.Qb3 it seems to add pressure while freeing the king's knight and bishop.

1.c4,Nf4 2.Bf1,Ng6 3.g3,c5 and there's still a pin while the rooks remain unconnected.

In the second position the idea of Rb1 and b4 suggests itself.  However, 1.Rb1,Nbd7 2.b4,e5 helps black free his game.

I like 1.Ne5,Bxe2 2.Qxe2 and 2...Bxe5? 3.dxe5,Nfd7 really cramps up black's game and coordination while white has some nice valid space (as opposed to simply being loose with overextended pawns for targets)
