Why am I being paired with players I have blocked?

I block them because I think they’re cheaters. Chess.com won’t ban them so I shouldn’t have to be paired against them if I have them blocked. Aborting every time gets my account temporarily banned. This is ridiculous.

Are you leaving live after blocking and getting back in after? I don't know when the block list loads, but it may not check immediately.

But you shouldn't be paired with them in auto-seeks:

I am auto seeking on the chess.com app and it has happened multiple times.

The app also doesn’t disable chat when I set it to do so in the settings.

You'd have to submit a ticket. It shouldn't happen in auto seeks. (You could get paired with them in tournaments though)

If you mean the app on Android or iOS, it's also possible that it will take a brand new session in order for the block to work correctly.

I block people who stall / abandon games when they are losing. And yes, twice in the last two months I went to block one of these guys and was told that I had already blocked them. I don't want to play with the miserable losers who don't have the courtesy to resign lost positions and instead get some kind of sadist joy out of making others waste time.

Agreed. They do waste your time. I block them as well. There should be a timer after they have been inactive after a certain amount of minutes. Sometimes this does happen, but other times not, which I don’t understand.
