I had been playing a lot of chess lately. I usually win or lose around 8 points against similar rated opponents. Just starting today, I started to only gain or lose around 4 points. Does anyone have a good explanation on why this happens? Thank you for your replies. hehe

Same with me. Suddenly today, I win 4 points & lose 4 points. Before, based on the person I was playing up with, I'd gain 10 points, and lose only 6. As you say, playing someone equal would be win 8 and lose 8. Whats up with this win 4 & lose 4?? To suddenly do this after years of playing chess.com seems a bit odd. Anyway, its got to be: 1) A glitch; 2) A punishment for a time for aborting??; 3) Chess.com has changed its scoring.

I think the confusion is not on how the ratings work.
Since the Server Restart today, the actual points seem to be halfed. I played games today before and after the restart. If both players had equal ratings (and Glicko yes) 8 Points were given/taken per game. Now this seems to have dropped to 4, and the same is true when players are further apart.
