Why are bots and people so different?

Why are bots and people so different in chess? I can beat a bot 3x my rating in control of the game the entire time no problem, but then when I go use the same tactic against a human, I tend to lose quite often. I also often don't understand the purpose of some of the suggested engine moves by the computer. They often time's seem extremely useless, and I doubt that has anything to do with my look ahed considering my level. Just a topic that I though of that I wanted to bring up and have a fun discussion with if anyone is intersted. happy.png

First, the bot ratings aren't correct.

Second, in order to be able to play chess, humans have to come up with heuristics/rules about what they should consider. This intuitive leaving is much different than the procedural calculations of a bot. But the ML bots like AlphaZero do play more like a human. Because their training is intuitive.

A computer is programmed to make moves a human player of similar skill would make. There is really no way that a bot could simulate natural play, because it doesn’t know what you, or any other player would see in any given position. That could be why they are so inconsistent in rating/skill.

Thanks. Then I should probably stop wasting my time on Bots, and spend more time playing actual games with people, and doing puzzles.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I guess a bot can't really simulate a human in that way. They could use a program to see all the good moves in that situation, but not which ones you would pick. But I guess in that sense, a human couldn't do that either. I have to be missing something.
