Do you really think it has to do with the game? I believe that it is most likely due to women simply not wanting to, even males don't want to. I'm a male, so I can't speak for women, but it could just be because of what the persons personality is like.

If u don't understand the point then there's no point anyone talking to u. her being in the top 8 doesn't mean anything.

The only reason it would mean anything is u knew deep down in ur soul women just aren't as good at chess as men, therefore her achievement of rank 8 would then be impressive. But if ur looking at the world with the lense of "men and women are equal in chess ability" then rank 8 isn't impressive at all. Why not become the best?

Right now the 8th best player is Mamedyarov, Shakhriyar. I don't see anyone celebrating his career in chess to anywhere near the extant of polgars.

I believe it’s because of history, how it started and how it evolved through time. Women were undervalued some centuries ago and not many of them could really play at this game. Now it’s a globalised world and everyone can play but usually history kind of repeats itself

I am not going to try to be politically correct and say that women and men are equally good at chess. Because there are obvious biological , psychological reasons as already pointed out by @karitkeya_tiwari . But at the same time calling females dumb just because of that is not the correct thing to do , as has been done by many in this thread. But my point still stands .

Also what I notice is that whenever this topic comes up , there are a few people who's egos or self esteem is hurt , if they are told that men are better. My advice to those is that there's nothing to feel bad about . Men are better in chess . Women are better than men at other fields . Both are different. Thats it.

I don't think the IQ differences between men and women has been brought up yet.

While average IQs between men and women are about the same, there is greater variation in men, and this matters a lot in the extreme levels of human performance.

There's a larger pool of men at the highest IQ levels, and so naturally you would expect to find more men at the extreme end of chess performance.

Also, to add more about evolutionary biology, males are more expendable than females. In the animal world, you don't need a huge cadre of males to impregnate females - you just need one good alpha male.

There is more incentive amongst males to compete on some sort of social dominance hierarchy that is based on competition and competence, even if these hierarchies are based on endless amounts of obsessive toil.

It's naturally built into us because we males inherently know that males who are useless in society are expendable and equates to diminished sexual opportunities.
