Why are thier so many pepole who say rude stuff on chat

People are jerks.

Well known fact.

Strange to say I've hardly ever had any rude comments.

Think of it like this. They’re mad that you played good. Therefore, their rage is complimenting your chess skill.

Most of my opponents do not chat.

Of those who do, the great majority are decent.

Then there are those who make you wonder if they have a room temperature IQ - measured in Celsius.  I remember a somewhat lower-rated opponent that suddenly realized I was going to win easily and then made numerous chat requests first asking for a draw, then demanding it, then ridiculing me for not giving one - even (erroneously) saying that a draw in that rated game would not affect my rating and finally insulting my character in general.  I made an abuse report and moved on.

There is an old saying that one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch, but that is predicated on the apples being together and the byproducts from the decaying apple affecting the others.  If the bad apple is isolated then it is just an isolated bad apple that can be avoided in the future.  When multiple bad apples get involved in a forum thread then that thread can be avoided.

The internet allows you to play chess against people all over the world, but that means that you have a chance of playing jerks from all over the world.  Focus on the good opponents from all over the world and block then ignore the jerks.

Internet chess allows a slight improvement over the serenity prayer because you don't need to simply accept (and continue to interact with) the jerks and you don't need to try to change them.

Instead of:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

You can have

God, grant me the serenity to block and ignore the jerks I cannot change, joy to play the good people I meet, and wisdom to quickly know the difference.

Sign of the times.  Human beings are increasingly savage, crude, and nasty.

Plenty of comments in this forum are the same.

But look at the bright side: in 10,000 years, no one will know anyone ever lived on this planet.

Not experienced anything negative myself. Most are quiet

That's deep question, maybe it's because of parenting or lack of? Maybe it's because of their ego obsfucation? Maybe it's because they are being gluttonous on the poisonous liquids? Maybe it's post traumatic stress disorder when they were abused and hung out to dry as a child? Maybe they were literally forced to eat what rhymes with tit? Maybe they are jealous? They haven't been able to sort out the cacaphony of information that constantly pulls and pushes them in disarray? Either way the reaper will get what you sew. It's a nice law

I think we have all given up on spelling and grammar.
