Why can't I stop playing blitz when on a losing streak?

I was up to 1280 after a nice day or two of winning most games.

Then yesterday, I was determined to win and push it over 1300 but I just could not outwit anyone and dropped to below 1200, but kept playing.  Oh well...

Great blitz players stem from being great chess players which stem from long time controls.

Props to you for beating the 1200 mark but id suggest play longer games and blitz games ranking for you will improve.

I'm sure you're right about that.  And tactics trainings help.  But actually even from just playing blitz my rank is raiting about 100 ELO better over the past year.  Maybe I'll take on some Online chess again.  Haven't played that much for a long time.

It's not winning that makes things like gambling and gaming addictive, it's the losses because they make the wins unpredictable. When rewards become unpredictable they release 3-4x the amount of dopamine.
