Why can't you delete a thread you start?

I would like to delete a forum thread I started but I have been unable to find a way to do it. Is this possible, if not why?

macer75

Which thread is it? Laughing

MrEdCollins

So I can take the time to answer a question you asked, in detail, that might help many others too, only to see you delete the thread afterwards?

That doesn't seem fair.  I hope a person can't delete their own threads.

macer75

O, I know which thread it is. You only started 1 other thread beside this one, and on that thread you deleted all of your comments, so it's pretty obvious. But why do you want to delete it? Seems like a pretty normal thread to me.

On a side note...

If you can't delete your own threads, how did the Daeth thread disappear? I also know that if your account gets banned, your threads don't get deleted (greedypawngrabber's threads still exist, for ex).

kco

he probably closed the account himself that's why his thread don't disappear.

Pfft! Dude this isn't East Germany circa 1989. It's a post, if someone wants to delete a post they started then that is their right. You have your opinion but I couldn't disagree more.

kco

If you want your thread to be delete just ask the staff.

Because :) Great reason in my book.

kco

So from now on, think before you post.

kco

btw the threads belong to the community.

Or add an option for a user to delete a thread they start.

kco

No, we had that argument some time ago and majority agreed not to put that option in.

netzach

Cannot do that. Anyone may start a thread but they are consulting the opinion of the community by doing so.

If want private or censorable discussion will have to do that within the environs of a group you are admin in.

kco

you can delete your own blogs.

kco

goldendog
