If I was a German GM, I was not confortable with English Attack, specially if my Grandfather fought in the Second World War.
After the moves 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6 6.Be3 we have reached the initial position of the English Attack. The reason that GMs like the English Attack is because it gives White about 6 different plans of attack.
What is not well known except by other GMs is that Black can choose to play the 5...a6 Sicilian Najdorf Scheveningen style. He does this by responding to 6.Be3 with 6...e6. 6...e6 reduces considerably the number of plans of attack available to white.
