No point risking a high chess score against a game with a potential cheater.

Does cheating not exist with people of their same rating though?

Aren't they pretty good at detecting cheating anyway? I never worry about it.

because they won't get very much if they win but will lose a lot if they lose

Because you want us to play the games Forever at your house, Joe, and we just don't wanna meet your Mama.

Honestly, I believe they think it’s a waste of their time for the most part. It’s a waste of your time too.

You didn’t say how much higher they are but I can tell you from experience. I am about 1400 on another site and I will play people in the 1100-1200 (because I used to be there too and some 1400s played against me so passing on the good vibes, lol). Playing them is okay for the first few openings and they get crushed in a short and sometimes pretty badly.

Then, if I get an opportunity to play a 1600 to 1800 player by chance, most would abort. However, some have accepted and the same thing happens but the tables are turned. They take me out and make short work of me. And all they get for it is like 1-3  rating points for the win. I can see why they would think it’s not worth their time.

I am however, grateful they even gave me a shot because they didn’t have to. For those ones who don’t, it’s no big deal.

I am vote chess person these days and don’t really play blitz anymore. 😜😎

By "other site" are you refering to lichess or chess24? strange that another site would have a lower rating inflation than chess.com

I have accounts at both. I think at lichess they started me a 1500, probably their default starting rating and here on chess.com they started me at 1200. I was shocked at such a “high” for me rating but I’ve pretty much kept it at 1500 there but here, I usually stayed on average here around 1200.   I have no idea what my true rating is but honestly, I don’t really know if I want to find out 😂

Keep doing that. However, you don’t turn down games with those at your rating either. 👌

I think if you win they loose too much so they don't risk it

the 900 cannot get paied w/ a super high rated player in a normal game. I think he said before that he plays unrated games.

i wouldn't want to waste my time playing someone hundreds of points lower who i'll beat 99% of the time and gain nothing, but if i lose i'll lose a bunch of points

Like stated above the games he plays are unrated.

Still, why would I want to waste my time playing someone who I'll almost certainly crush?
