Why do i hate myself and stuck in 1600 (Im very sad)

I've been hovering around 1600 for about a year now and just finally hit 1800 in a few months. Humans are habitual creatures and a lot of times in chess we end up creating bad chess habits. How I got past 1600 was learning more openings. Analysing before making a move even if it's "obvious". And taking time to analyse the whole the game afterward to help unlearn bad habits in the openings and finding new tactics. As for mental health, chess is never the reason for depression. That's something deeper and you need to get help. A lot of people are dealing with the same thing and it's nothing to be ashamed of. Go get your brain chemicals balanced.

Going beyond 1700 requires plenty of study. Fundamental Chess Openings, Simple Chess, Silman's Endgame Course and ofc plenty of tactics excercise.

Not really that's really reserved for 2000+ studying depends on the person so yes they might need to study but they might learn better by just playing games

A friend of mine was in the same boat and was considering suicide. I talked him out of it and introduced him to freshwater fishing and tennis. I also told him to not play Chess for a while. Its just a game. Please do not take your life over a game. We have all had moments of rage quit. If you think the ups and downs are rough at 1600, it will not get any easier at the next level.
