do you know what i don't get. when ever you are about to start a game the other person exits off the game. why do people do that its not cool

what do you think about people who do that?

WolfLeader

It either means, they don't want to play with your rating or don't want to play as black ;)! Chess.com tries to limit people from aborting matches by making them lose points in there rating for aborting more that 2 times a day ;)

Or, more specifically, they don't want to play Black against anything other than 1.e4 or 1.d4.  I get a lot of quitters when I'm White, but they don't quit until AFTER I play 1.Nf3.  I get a lot less quitters when I play 1.d4.

Perhaps they are disturbed by your avatar. Or it reminds them they forgot to feed their cat.

Derekjj

it is only online chess.

ChessRocks112

don't be mean to the cat

straycat771

disturbeds them it is just a cat

FancyKnight

But those eyes...

DerekAR

In my experience (with my old account) it means that people start games and don't have enough time to play and don't want to "lose" so they just leave. Very annoying.

ChessRocks112

true if i saw my cat with those red eyes i would think it was creepy

straycat771

lol but to me i think the eyes are cool

That's surprising, as I'd expect if you're playing other people with high ratings they'd know how to respond to the Zuckertort opening. I just play 1...Nf6. Do you think that's a good reply?

straycat771

ya

chasm1995

I think anything that doesn't hang a pawn is a good reply.  I use d5 as my reply, and if they do d4, then I do c5.

chasm1995

back to the tpoic, though, I think that in my case it may have to do with my nationality, (US) even though I don't instigate opponents like others, and it ends up being a sterotype that harms others.  Another reason might be because I play d4 and people prefer playing e4.  I wonder if more people abort against c4, though?

kikvors

I also think that some people create a challenge, wait a bit, then after 30 seconds they get distracted and go away for coffee or so. Then when you play them, they aren't there.

straycat771

cool motorbike

ilikeflags

i know why they do it.

FireAndLightz

cos people expect that we all do unexpected things. ;-)

Wow, instead of learning something and developing an understanding they rather just get up and leave.  Van Geet and Nimzo-Larsen players such as myself and Grob players love these types in OTB.
