I had my internet reset suddenly on a losing position. It was not intentional.

If they didn't play a move for 20-60 seconds and then it says they abandoned then it might be bad internet connection (often it's when there's only one red bar visible for the connection).
I would never abandon a match just because I played bad and too proud to resign, I usually play until checkmate.
i feel like its just disrespecting your opponent and just unsportsman-like in general and every game i play my opponent just abandons it or stalls
