Why do people argue about chess being a sport or not?

It's just arguing about whether one's opinion is right or wrong. chess is a sport, but at the same time it isn't. 

It is a sport but in my opinion it shouldn't be

If women say that chess is a sport, then chess is a sport. If women say chess is not a sport, then chess is not a sport. The men of society will go along with whatever opinion makes them liked by women.

1. Access to funding and any legal advantages for sports

2. Eligibility for Olympics

I imagine that is the only real practical push to have chess recognized as a sport.
