Your actually wrong for that, using the same strats over and over gets boring, since nobody is being creative, and coming up with a counter does use some creativity. so honestly, your wrong for that my boi.
Why do people use always the same boring chess instead of trying to improve with creativity?
Chess is a game that people study deeply. The reason people don't use "creative strategies" is because if the opponent knows chess well enough, it ALWAYS puts you at a disadvantage.
Well if you can see a guaranteed checkmate in a creative way; go for it, your opponent is not physically able to stop you.
They (the experts) recommend that we (non experts) play the same one or two openings so we can learn more deeply, rather than being "creative".
You cannot change others, but you can change yourself and your approach. BE the creative change, and FORCE a creative game, by playing a different opening each time, or making risky/unsound sacrifices.
I do my best trying out new ideas and creative checkmating patterns but people are always too busy trying their best in order to get that extra 8 points and be 1200 rated. lol
That is annoying as hell. Chess is supposed to be a creative game. Instead we have very repetitive moves.
I can't imagine playing chess as a job. How awful would it be to play theory for 30 or more moves.
Well, maybe I should just change my addiction to other strategy game, cause this one is just repetitive.
You could try the asian board game Go. Its the oldest and most complex strategy board game. Its like the most popular game in China, Korea and Japan but also played in other countries. Like every major city in Europe or the US has scene of players. Online servers are also well populated.
The game is so complex that on average after 20-50 moves depending on skill level the game is unique. One game has like 200 - 300 moves on average.
There are no draws by design so either side has to play for a win, making every game very sharp.
There is opening theory but Id say it rather plays a minor role. Also not to the extent of opening theory in chess.
Because of this huge complexity creativity and long term strategy is the key to winning.
Computers only beat a human 9 years ago in 2016 and even in this series there is one game where the engine/AI resigned.

Chess isn't really about being creative, it's meant to be a strategic test of skill. Due to the nature of the game, some strategies will be more popular and more people will play them.
