It's quite thrilling whereas blitz is more frustrating. Blitz has its place because you can play more games and try new things out but it's really not the same game.
Bullet WTF?
I stopped playing after school/college - where we always played 40 moves in 90 minutes (and then 20 moves more and it went off for adjudication).
27 years later I buy and engine and started playing on playchess.
I was so slow. I played a a few test ganmes at 10 mins and then I played my first live (Rapid - 15 mins) tourney since school. Played in the minor section as my rating was long dead. I got winning positions in all 6 games and lost 5 on time!
Kept playing on th internet.
Went back to the live tourney the next year. I got winning positions in all 6 games and lost 1 on time (won 5 and came 2nd in my section!).
After another year I am playing 5min+1sec to 7 min+5 sec. Anything else seems too slow. I'm quite proud of speeding my old slow brain up,,,,
Nice question even when everybody will answer it the wrong way, except me. The answer is because we most likely want things to happen NOW. And NOW is NOW.
That is something I have always wondered. Players don't find classic chess fun because it is something they don't understand, unlike blitz which isn't true chess?
classic chess requires deep thinking/calculation
rapid chess requires quick thinking
two different kinds of skills. So it attracts different players.
classic chess is more positional, rapid is more tactical.
I like playing both, although rapid is more fun to watch
Alot of people want to play faster time controls because it makes them feel like they are better then they really are.I see guys brag all the time about their bullet rating or blitz when if they had to play a slower time control they may find out they are not really that good and that may be hard for their ego to take.
Haven't actually played blitz or bullet, but I assume training your mind to look for things more quickly is beneficial in some way.

what? where do you come from? I mean WHAT? havent actually played blitz or bullet? WHAT? oh god, and what he says afterwards, "but i assume training your mind to look for things more quickly is beneficial in some way" ... """" DISTURBING"""""

I started like a week ago and I've been focusing mainly on tactics to learn how to see opportunities I would otherwise miss. They're also fun.
But I'm confused about what disturbed you. If you can see your best moves in a shorter amount of time you're probably less likely to overlook something right?
Probably because they can easily win just by beating their oppenent on the clock. Even I do this. That and 30 min. is 1) too long for my paitience and 2) it takes me 10 min. to get checkmated. Wierd thing is my hightest rating is in rapid.
I'm not that great at blitz or bullet, but it's a lot of fun. To me, classical time controls or G/60+ is really reserved for tournament play and training. My favorite control is 90/30 for OTB play. The longest I've seen in online play regularly is 45/45. In a nutshell, who has enough time for much real chess with most people's regular schedules?

I’ll be the first to admit blitz and bullet are the wrong time controls for me but:
1. Noncommittal. I’ve played 30 mins game where the opponent rounds down his clock because of a lost position.
2. Easier to get quick games. Especially in Arena formats.
3. I experiment openings and defences in fast time controls so my rapid rating stays stable. It’s also an opportunity to play different openings that you would not normally play in a rapid or classical game that would conclude with a checkmate and not flagging.
