Why do some chess players offer draws when their opponent is clearly in a winning position?

I mean, clearly your opponent can checkmate in one or two moves. It's inevitable. So why not resign?

Yes, usually they just say idk. Is this normal? or am I the only one who deals with this?

except for the resign button. chess.com players obviously dont know the resign button. never.

I guess a sensible reason would be cuz they think offering draws would prevent them from just losing. Not so sensible but acceptable if you are a beginner in the app.
