Poorly.
Why do you play chess ?

Because I'm pants at everything else.
Actually (kidding aside) I'm attracted by the geometric patterns in the game.

Poorly.
I don't get it, you play chess because you're poor ?
Because of dislexia.

Because I have no skills at all. This is the only thing I am a bit better than average so I play it to make myself feel better and potentially earn some bucks if offered.

It is fun even while being cheap and easy to access, so I play for entertainment
It keeps my brain active and developing
To gain enough understanding so as to be able to appreciate master games and the history of chess, and thus gain another area of culture I can enrich my life with
It contributes to the persona of being a cultured individual that I'm trying to form for myself

Well, now I have started to play chess more seriously because I wish to win my school tournament and make a comeback from my 800 chess.com rating (which was my rating when I took part in the tournament). I want to get to the finals of my bracket at least and eventually face off in the true semi-finals, and take down at least 1 or 2nd seed.
Just curious
