The way the timer works is that the timer on your side of the board is how long you have left to make moves. If your time runs out, you cant make more moves, thus you lose.
Why does it say I'm the loser when the time runs out?

There isn’t one timer. Both of you have separate timers. Whoever runs out of time first loses.

I'm usually closing in right before checkmate and the timer does off and apparently it says I'm the loser. Why is this? :'(
