because we will get points
Why is it better to checkmate than stalemate?

Why is it better to checkmate than stalemate?
Checkmate is a win and stalemate is a draw. Unless the weaker side finds a way to force the stalemate, it is better to calculate the win than blunder it away.
A higher rated player getting a draw against a lower rated player will lose points. So, for the lower rated player getting stalemated is better than losing, and stalemating a higher rated opponent will gain rating, but not as much as if they checkmate them.

Why is it better to checkmate than stalemate?
Just like it is better to succeed then be average. Checkmate=win win and that means more points. It sucks to stalemate if you are higher rated against a low rated player.

Yes better to win not draw
Depends If you are Anish Giri or Not
yes lol

Why is stalemate a draw?
One side cannot make a move.... so, the other side should win...
Also, stalemate is rarer than checkmate..... so stalemate should give more points....

But what is the logic of this?

Checkmating is incredibly selfish. You take all of the points and give them to yourself, like some capitalist scum.
When we stalemate, we assert dominance in that out opponent is paralyzed, yet the points are split equally. You must put the well-being of the community above your own!
Therefore, stalemate > checkmate, comrade.
