Yeah in an open tourney in Tennessee I got first in my rating section and only got 50 dollars
In the early 1990s I won dozens of chess tournaments. Back then the prizes were £150 for small tournaments and about £6 or £7 to enter them. Cheaper fuel and generally free parking anywhere. You didn't make a living but it was decent pocket money. I won cash at 9 consecutive tournaments once, or was it eleven? It was a paying hobby. Like stamp collecting. ![]()
On the internet speed chess has been more popular than slow games for decades. It has nothing to do with chess.com specifically.
Is there a site where pleople of my level play 15+ chess (The real chess)?
There is.
But Chess.com does not allow anybody to mention any other chess sites.
But 2000+ over there is not the same as 2000+ over here. I find chess.com ratings to be much stronger then on that other site we aren't allowed to mention.
Name calling and ad hominem. What is it that I say is not true?
I said it point blank. I don't play on Chess.com because Chess.com prostituted the art of chess.

If illchess was so good, you'd be over there playing, instead of spewing your bile on everyone.
I run a real face-to-face chess club. We meet in a "brewpub."

I run a tennis club, identically to chess club.

What a joke. You run a Meetup nobody goes to.

Maybe he is, and he's waiting for his opponent to move.

In that chess Meetup, my rule, time control is 60 minutes each.
Who is the joke? I or the people that do not go there?

/ No one goes.
/ You have only played 5 games on lichess. You don't play there. You don't play here. You don't play over the board.
All you do is quack.
Long quacks.
Quaaaaaaaaaack.
Are you sure it’s not because that’s where the market lies? That people actually prefer shorter games?
I mean if your theory were true, then 1|0 would be the most popular format and the default wouldn’t be 10|0. After all, the shorter the games, the more ads non-members see.
Of course if you are a member, they shouldn’t really care what format you play since they already have your money.
But of course the inability to mention the names of other sites being tied to a desire for shorter games makes perfect sense. I’m not sure I follow the logic, but I’m not very smart.
