it was a pure provocation. They should ask Magnus why escaped and didn't wanted to talk at all.
And those clapping on press conference after Magnus won was really disrespect of Karjakin.
Why is Magnus so arrogant? He escaped from the conference.

I find it interesting to speculate around the psychology in chess and other sports. But several of you guys are just venting your own anger, and projects it towards people you know nothing about.

"why would Carlsen have a serious anti-social disorder ?"
it's quite normal for anti-social people to be anti-social.

You forget how many people Carlsen meet during a year. You forget that he's in a close family and has a team of chess people around him. You forget that he's good at the press conference, making the journalists laugh, even though English is not his first language. He might have been a bit anti-social in the past, but he has changed.

The people who interpret his behavior as arrogant are insecure. Their personal lack of self esteem or self confidence makes them so unfamiliar with the characteristic because they have so little of it themselves they see anyone who is truly superior to them as arrogant.

And that gets thrown around the internet like OCD or Asperger's.
If Carlsen truly had anti-social disorder he wouldn't be a chess player. That's an illness for christ's sake, throwing a fit every now and then isn't.

Watching a tennis match where one of the players refuses to attempt a winning shot might be interesting for a while but if that is all you present to your audience then after a while they may become disillusioned with the game and stop watching. We’re talking sponsors here too.
I think Carlsen sensed this and it became an added burden, him being a senior representative of the sport. So I think it was frustration and not arrogance on his part.
Of course I could be completely wrong.

guys with anti-social disorder are drawn to anti-social pursuits like chess, but it's ok to be in denial and spend all your life living in a fantasy.

i thought you were, you should wake up to life though, it would be better for you. you also can recommend your idiot ideas to fellow geeks.

you sure wandered into the right thread man, you're probably more arrogant than Carlsen.
now go chitchat with someone else, your conversation is ultra boring.

People are allowed to clap after somebody who they prefer won. It's not disrespect. It's like in a baseball game, you cheer for one team. That's not disrespect to the other team. That's your own preference.
Which one of these teams do you like more, the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Chicago Cubs?
(remember what you said. It's disrespectful to the other team. But you have to pick one of the options. Who will you disrespect?) You may take as long as you need to to answer...
Carlsen, who doesn t like press conferences at all, but especially even less after lost games, became upset when he noticed that he had to wait there for Karjakin because he was giving an interview to a russian TV.
This was not a matter of arrogance.

All commentators are cheering for him in the championship. Clapping when he won like Karjakin is the enemy of the all humans.
But Karjakin is the gentleman, i hope he is gonna crush him.

It's like this. Uncouth and vulgar behavior is or has become the norm in this day and age. Everywhere, people are acting without class, and are vulgar and badly behaved. In the 50s and 60s, people had more class. Chivalry, etiquette and integrity was admired and upheld. Movies had more class. Music had more class. Standards everywhere were much higher than today. Today, only technology is higher. Everything else is worse.
Maybe you consider that Carlsen is not in the wrong, because he could not "control himself". Fair enough. But also, he could do better at being an exemplary role model in today's age, furthermore being the world champion. Alas, Karjakin beats him to that.
"I don't recall Karjakin saying anything of that sort"
A Norwegian journalist asked him if he was unhappy after losing and he said that he wasn't, and when pressed on the subject why he wasn't unhappy he said that it was because he thought about chess, not stupid questions. He didn't exactly seem angry though, and the journalist was of course asking very stupid questions so it's not as if Karjakin reacted in some extreme or even unpleasant way.
