Why is playing level 1 versus the computer so easy?

I only moved 3 pawns and look how fast I checkmated level 1. 1. e4 d6 2. e5 c5 3. exd6 Nc6 4. dxe7 Ncxe7 5. d4 Bf5 6. dxc5 Nf6 7. c6 Be4 8. cxb7 Qa5+ 9. c3 h6 10. bxa8=Q+ Qd8 11. Qaxd8#

Well played. In answer to your question though, level 1 of the computer is designed to be that easy.
