The encyclopedia of chess openings (ECO) doesn’t list it because it’s not a serious opening. Just because something has a name, doesn’t mean it’s in the encyclopedia.

Aside from that, different chess players have different ideas what a “real” bongcloud opening is. After the Hikaru match, Magnus in an interview stated that he didn’t consider what Hikaru played to be the real bongcloud.

No reason to get upset about it. Everyone knows what you’re talking about. Not everything in the Urban Dictionary is in the Oxford English Dictionary.

Are you new here? Half the posts I figure must be a joke, but end up just being posted by doofuses. That whole thread about gambits being disgusting I thought was a joke, but hundreds of posts later it is still going strong.

Once when I was a teenager I had a friend who was known for memorizing lots of opening theory. So to teach him a lesson I played 1.f3 against him in a tournament game, to show how I could play bad moves and still beat him as long as I got him out of book. But instead I got crushed lol
