Why is the Opera House game (played by Paul Morphy) so good?
It basically shows the importance of piece development and initiative. Plus everyone likes a nice win down in material, and the queen "sac" to finish was great

Yeah, I admit that the queen sac was cool and all that, but out of all of the million-ish games, why the Oprah House game?

There are just certain games that will live forever just as certain stories will. Is Beowulf a great story by modern standards? Can a million living artists do something objectively requiring more skill than the Mona Lisa? Would any modern military theorist be great on the battlefield in the civil war? Absolutely.
But who cares.
Okay, I'm not saying that the game is stupid or anything. With the Oprah House game I see a pretty good miniature played by a great player and a couple of patzers in an oprah house. What I want to know, though, is why is it so great? What I see that lessens the value is the fact that it was played against a few 1500-1600ish rating-ed people instead of an equal grandmasterish person.
