Why is this a brilliant move?

Hey all,

Trust me I'm not trying to sound like a conceited player, but the move I made below really just seems like the intuitive best move. What do you all suppose the machine would have suggested? Why did this turn out to be a "brilliant move"?

duntcare

the machine probably analysed deeper and saw through more threats or stuff

Strangemover

I was awarded a 'brilliant' for this move in my last completed daily game:

Can anyone see any other move worth playing?

ChesswithGautham
I guess any 1000 would play that!
ponz111

it is not a brilliant move--==-it is a very obvious move.

I don’t know why that’s a brilliant move. There are no further threats after that move as far as I can see.

It's because you get to take the rook on f1 while his king gets locked on the h file. After taking the rook you have a very strong move f5, threatening the rook lift to mate.

Wildekaart

The "Brilliant" moves are untrustworthy. It's what the engine thinks is brilliant. A more brilliant move often is one where there is only one move to keep initiative which is hard to find, but 'obvious' to the engine.

Bill-Hicks

In an absolutely terrible game where we both played like drunks my 21st move when I moved my black king out of check was deemed as brilliant!!

WTF?

Because: you can capture the f1 rook, you checked the king powerfully and could fork: the king’s only move is a2, so the queen would try to stop it using b2. Then bishop captures b2, the king can’t capture the bishop and you aim at the rook.

Meanwhile me - what's chess anyways!??

chessnextgm

If they block with the queen, you take with your queen and checkmate

chessnextgm

Or maybe just because you win a free rook

chessnextgm

OHHH YOU FORK THE QUEEN AND THE ROOK ON BG2!!!!!!

Hi everyone. I was watching my first games and I found my first brilliant move. But here I didn't have any tactics or strategy, and it was a purely intuitive move. but at the moment I don't see why it is a brilliant. Can someone explain to me why. (9.Nxg5)

why is this a brilliant move? i literally played that as a joke move

thanius123

i have other brilliant moves, one where i sacked my rook with a check and discovered attack on their queen and won the game, one where i sacked my knight for a forced mate in 2 and one where i sacked my bishop to win the queen
