Quick look but positional gain by sacrifice is a player beyond a novice and the calculation must of been done reminds me of say Tal , Morphy and anyone after to a passive player. Calculation of position that is winning
If he takes the pawn its threatening mate in 2... And then if he tried to bring in knight to defend mate, you can bring the knight on f3 its quite a annoying move.
