Please see my game and don't make fun of the moves....:) can someone please explain why this is a draw due to insufficient material?

Wow, it must be a bug in their program. It can't even be draw by repetition or by 50-move rule since the pawns had just been moving, it's not a stalemate, and there is way more than enough material to mate.

It was a draw because you ran out of time, and he had insufficient material to checkmate you.

You learn something new everyday, ESPECIALLY when it comes to chess.

This is true, wonder how many threads have been made because of this...

It's clear white ran out of time and black had insufficient material, so instead of white losing due to time it is, by rule, a draw.

I've been playing chess for over 45 years and never knew about this rule.  Thank you.

on chess.com... you ran out of time but he had no possible material to beat you since he only has a king -> draw on chess.com

irl you would've lost on time

Same here. I'd never heard of such a rule! I thought as soon as you lost on time, you simply lost. What a strange rule.

If the one that loses on time loses no matter what the opponent has, K+K will be played to death, being a war of who moves their king faster.
