If a person would tell you why he should learn to play chess, ask you some good reasons to do that, what things would you answer? Give me your opinion! ;-)

p.s.: sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand my question.

Because it is fun and rewarding

Its a fun game that requires using your brain.  Its very complex and you could spend your lifetime mastering it.  It has a huge community of followers and its very exciting to get involved in that.  But if someone isn't into mental challenges like this or they find it "boring" then its not their cup of tea.

An awe-inspiring game full of complexities we try hard to grasp, a battle to exploit the flaws within anothers mindset. :-)

Ok, thanks for your opinions! :-) And if I would ask you some reasons to not learn the game?

In my opinion chess stimulate sedentariness and in addition they can be dangerous for mental health: often people involved too much in the game appear strange and bizarre...what's your opinion about this?

The question why is often asked about any human activity especially games. There are a breed people who consider all games, unless they lead to a profit, are a waste of time.

I take the opposite view they are a way of spending time as good as any other way between the cradle and the grave.

The only caution I would add is don't spend too much time ( its very valuable and soon goes) on any one pursuit variety is the spice of life.

Chess is addictive, like heroin or crack cocaine, I'd advise people to steer clear of it!
