I get so many abandonment games. From players who don't seem to abandon games in general. I'm not saying I'm good or anything, but when I am doing well, I get quit on so much. I look at the persons hx, and see, i am the only one they quit on! what the quack!

It's happens me too. Some players are just that childish to rage quit when the game aren't going the way they want. Happens at all ratings.

If they resign in a losing position, congrats, you deserve the win.

If someone thinks that they have no counterplay, is 9+ points behind in material or whatever, and the opponent's pieces are swarming around the king, they might as well resign and move on to the next game.

Yes.Congrats.Is one of many ways to win.I was not playing for a long time, until some time ago when I returned and had to develop my own game system.I surprised that on my firsts experiments lot of players abandoned in the middle game. This is not my first web I played but i experimented the same you express in other site.... I actually today are surprised by prematures matchs abort.I oppine is not good idea abandon matchs, because playing adverse conditions can be excellent trainning

Most games are won (or lost) by resignation, at all levels, since ever, everywhere.

Other ways to win are actuazlly rarer in practice:

_ Win on the clock/on time (rarely happens in classical games)

_ Win by checkmate (common among very young kids and ultra beginners, much rarer above that)

_ Win by decision of the arbiter (doesn't apply with games online)

Yet, one may outline, a player can resign by clicking on the resign button, or do something barbarian such as disconnecting or stalling. (to be noted that disconnecting doesn't apply to OTB games).

Last but not least, to use the term (that would be the French word for it btw) "abandonement" instead of "resignation" is rather confusing and makes one wonder if the opponent simply left the game or resigned properly, as should.
